Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd has unveiled the LiSIM ROS, a new simulator developed specifically for ship-to-shore container cranes operated from a Remote Operator Station (ROS).

Built with original Liebherr controls, hardware, and PLCs, the simulator replicates every function of a real crane. Developed by the same engineers who design Liebherr machines, it delivers realistic load sway, inertia, and response, ensuring operators are fully prepared to transition from simulator to crane.

From crane start-up to container handling on deck, in holds, and during hatch cover operations, LiSIM ROS mirrors real STS workflows. Multiple vessels and terminal scenarios can be simulated, helping operators build muscle memory and operational confidence.

Beyond initial training, the simulator supports ongoing operator development. It allows recruitment screening, upskilling, refresher training, and scenario practice in a safe, cost-effective environment—without emissions or wear on live equipment. Training can take place at any time without taking cranes out of service, reducing costs while enhancing safety.

The instructor station features dual screens, a 3D controller, and a 360° drone-like view for monitoring real-time performance. With LiSIM Driver Analysis, every operator movement is tracked and measured, giving instructors clear insights into progress and skill levels.

Available globally, the LiSIM ROS offers a scalable training solution for both new and experienced operators. By combining genuine Liebherr technology with measurable results, the simulator sets a new benchmark in crane operator training and long-term workforce development.
