Thurrock Council has approved a new 10-year Local Development Order (LDO) to facilitate further expansion at DP World’s London Gateway Logistics Park. This initiative aims to streamline planning processes, enabling rapid approval of new construction projects within 28 days. All developments adhere to the BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ standard, reinforcing the Park’s commitment to sustainability.
As the UK’s largest logistics facility, London Gateway has developed half of its 9.0 million sq. ft site, with the extension supporting full utilisation of the remaining space. This year, Destiny Entertainments and Ranson became the Park’s first manufacturing tenants, moving into cutting-edge facilities.
Alan Holland, CEO of DP World London Gateway Logistics Park, praised the decision, emphasizing its role in job creation and investment attraction. “Our strong partnership with Thurrock Council ensures we can continue driving local economic growth and sustainability,” he said.
Cllr Lee Watson, Cabinet Member for Good Growth, highlighted the LDO’s impact on job creation and economic benefits for the borough.
Situated within the Thames Freeport, London Gateway offers tenants financial incentives, contributing to its appeal as a global logistics hub. DP World, operating in 78 countries, handles 10% of global containerised trade.
