SeAH Wind has officially appointed Mammoet, Glacier Energy, and Hutchinson Engineering as key subcontractors for the Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Project. With commercial production set to commence in the coming months, these subcontractors will provide critical operational and logistical support within SeAH Wind’s 120-acre site at Teesworks, UK.

As the supplier of monopile foundations for the Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Project, located approximately 120 km off the Norfolk Coast in the North Sea, SeAH Wind plays a crucial role in the development of what will become the world’s largest offshore wind farm upon completion. The project is set to provide renewable energy to millions of homes, further solidifying the UK’s position as a leader in offshore wind energy.

Chris Sohn, CEO at SeAH Wind, expressed enthusiasm for the new partnerships: “At SeAH Wind, we are excited to partner with Mammoet, Glacier Energy, and Hutchinson Engineering for the Hornsea 3 project. These strategic appointments reflect our commitment to delivering market-leading XXXL monopiles. With these trusted partners, we are confident that we will meet our project goals while upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.”

Mammoet will be responsible for providing self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) to facilitate the movement of can/cone structures and completed monopiles within SeAH Wind’s facility. By leveraging its expertise in heavy transport solutions for offshore wind projects, Mammoet aims to optimize logistics and minimize production downtime.

Darren Watson, Sales Manager at Mammoet, commented: “We are delighted to be helping SeAH Wind to deliver the future of offshore wind foundations by providing marshalling capabilities that are constantly at the cutting edge of what can be lifted and transported.”

Glacier Energy will conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) of welds throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring compliance with both Ørsted’s stringent standards and international offshore wind regulations. This rigorous inspection process will enhance the durability and reliability of the monopiles.

Scott Martin, Group CEO at Glacier Energy, stated: “We are proud to be supporting SeAH Wind with NDT services for the Hornsea 3 project, marking a significant milestone for Glacier Energy. This collaboration builds on our strong heritage of supporting wind foundation manufacturers and reinforces our commitment to the northeast of England’s growth. We look forward to working with SeAH Wind and playing a pivotal role in the success of the project.”

Hutchinson Engineering has been awarded the contract to supply secondary steel components for Hornsea 3. SeAH Wind selected the UK-based company for its ability to meet Ørsted’s precise specifications and its proven expertise in offshore wind projects. The company’s manufacturing capability and commitment to high-quality standards were key factors in its selection.

Steve Adams, Managing Director at Hutchinson Engineering, said: “Hutchinson is delighted to have been awarded the secondary steel contract by SeAH Wind. This success demonstrates our continued growth and proven expertise in supplying steel structures and products to the offshore sector, reinforcing our growth strategy and highlighting the business gains achieved through the OWGP business improvement program.”
