Collett has successfully delivered 216 wind turbine components to Limekiln Wind Farm, a project featuring twenty-four Vestas V136 turbines. Located near Reay, Caithness, and developed by Boralex, the wind farm is progressing towards completion with the seamless execution of its transport logistics.

Deliveries began in May 2024, with components arriving at Scrabster Port, where operations included vessel berthing, crane offloading, and secure storage. The transport team managed the movement of 67m-long blades using Nooteboom Super Wing Carrier trailers and 74Te base tower sections with 3×7 Nooteboom clamps. Other critical components, including the nacelle, drive train, and hub, were transported using 6-axle stepframe trailers.

A comprehensive route assessment was conducted before deliveries, identifying necessary road modifications, including street furniture removal, tree trimming, and road widening near the port exit. A test run was performed to confirm feasibility, ensuring smooth transport along the 45-minute route to the wind farm site. Police escorts were arranged for larger components, with an escort fleet guiding deliveries across the site.

Close coordination with Highland Council, BEAR Scotland, Vestas, and wind farm stakeholders ensured efficient scheduling and compliance with regulations. The final delivery in October 2024 marked the project’s logistical success, made possible by a skilled nine-member team.

Once operational, the 108 MW wind farm will generate renewable energy for 40,200 households, reducing CO₂ emissions by at least 65,000 tonnes annually—another step toward Scotland’s clean energy future.
