AD Ports Group has signed a shareholders’ agreement with CMA CGM Group to jointly develop and operate the New East Mole multipurpose terminal at the Port of Pointe Noire, Congo-Brazzaville. AD Ports Group, which secured a 30-year concession for the terminal in June 2023, will hold a majority stake in the joint venture.

The terminal will handle a variety of cargo, including containers, general, and break-bulk goods. Phase 1 of the project includes building a 400-meter quay wall and a 10-hectare logistics area, with an investment of approximately USD 220 million (AED 807 million).

This partnership follows the successful launch of CMA Terminals Khalifa Port in December 2024. CMA CGM, a leading player in Congo’s shipping market, holds a 35% share of container volumes in the country.

The terminal will be a multi-user facility and will feature advanced, sustainable equipment, including Super Post-Panamax cranes and hybrid Rubber-Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGs) that reduce diesel consumption by 60%. The terminal aims to boost trade, job creation, and sustainability in Congo-Brazzaville.

Mohamed Eidha Al Menhali, Regional CEO of AD Ports Group, emphasized the project’s potential to connect the region to global markets, while CMA CGM’s Christine Cabau Woehrel highlighted the economic and operational benefits of their collaboration.
