According to Eurostat data, construction production in November 2024 grew by 1.2% in the Eurozone and 1.3% in the EU compared to October, with annual increases of 1.4% and 0.9%, respectively. Civil engineering in the Eurozone rose by 0.5%, while specialized construction activities increased by 1.2%.
Belgium ranked third among member states, recording a remarkable 4.2% growth, following Spain and Bulgaria. With projections for an additional 2% growth through 2025, the sector’s outlook remains optimistic, supported by investments like the €4.3 billion Walloon Regional Recovery Plan.
Belgian heavy-lifting leader Sarens has been instrumental in this growth, showcasing expertise in high-profile projects. Sarens contributed to the Genk Green Logistics port infrastructure, assembling barge cranes with advanced equipment such as the Demag AC700. Similarly, the company replaced the Barebeek railway bridge, executing precision lifts within tight spaces.
Sarens also played a key role in renewable energy efforts, installing turbines for the Sprimont onshore wind farm near Damré. “The figures reflect a thriving sector. We’re proud to have contributed to this growth, creating jobs and driving progress,” said Bert Kustermans, Sarens’ Project Manager.
Beyond Belgium, Sarens’ international projects, including the Colbert Bridge renovation in France and the OA14 bridge installation in Luxembourg, further cement its position as a trusted partner in construction’s ongoing evolution.
With steady growth and innovative contributions, the construction sector looks poised for a promising 2025.
