Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has unveiled its latest innovation, the Stefa high-pressure radial shaft seal (HPRSS) portfolio. This comprehensive range is engineered to address the multifaceted challenges of speed, pressure, chemical compatibility, and misalignment, setting new benchmarks for reliability and performance across diverse high-demand applications.
Stefa HPRSS is the culmination of rigorous research and development, leveraging finite element analysis (FEA) and advanced testing capabilities. Designed to meet the operational demands of hydraulic motors, pumps, gearboxes, and engines, the seals have demonstrated their robustness in environments reaching pressures of up to 20 MPa and rotational speeds of 17 meters per second.
These seals play a pivotal role in critical industries such as construction, mining, and agriculture, as well as in industrial material handling, automotive, aerospace, and marine sectors. By combining cutting-edge materials and innovative geometries, Stefa seals ensure optimal performance even under extreme operational conditions.
A cornerstone of the Stefa portfolio, the HP20 series utilizes a patented design geometry that self-balances under intense pressure. Its integrated metal retainer minimizes lip extrusion and dissipates heat, extending the product’s service life. Operating reliably at 20 MPa and speeds of 2 MPS, the HP20 has set the standard in high-pressure sealing since its inception in 2010.
Optimized for high-torque, low-speed applications, the HP20S features a spring-energized lip design that ensures superior performance even in reduced lubrication conditions. Proven to operate at pressures up to 15 MPa and speeds of 5 MPS, the HP20S reduces wear by enhancing lubrication channels during start-up and high-speed rotations, making it ideal for cost-conscious, durability-focused users.
Designed to address shaft-to-bore misalignment, the SPS-HP20 incorporates a flexible lip geometry energized by a stainless-steel spring. Its simple yet effective design delivers superior performance at pressures of 15 MPa and speeds of 5 MPS, particularly in applications such as pulley-driven hydraulic motors. Customizable material and geometry options ensure adaptability to specific operational needs.
Engineered for high-speed applications, the SPV seal is optimized to handle dynamic conditions, including pressure spikes and directional changes. Capable of enduring speeds up to 17 MPS and pressures of 2.5 MPa during spikes, it excels in demanding environments like pumps and hydraulic motors. Its availability in premium elastomers, such as hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) and fluoroelastomers (FKM), further enhances its adaptability.
The enhanced TRP seal offers exceptionally low friction and durability in polluted environments. Operating at pressures of 0.5 MPa and speeds of 10 MPS, it incorporates a dust lip for added protection. The seal’s proprietary geometry reduces wear and extends service life, while customizable compositions—including HNBR, nitrile (NBR), and FKM materials—ensure precise performance in varied applications.
Inderjeet Singh, Global Product Line Director at Trelleborg, emphasized the portfolio’s strategic significance: “The enhanced Stefa range represents a step change in sealing performance and durability. By integrating insights from our global customers with cutting-edge R&D capabilities, we have developed solutions that redefine reliability across a broad spectrum of challenging applications.”
