HALFWAY MILESTONE AT ÎLES D’YEU AND NOIRMOUTIER OFFSHORE WIND FARM

Rate this post

DEME has reached a key milestone in its offshore wind farm project at Îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier, successfully installing the 31st foundation and marking the halfway point of its XL-monopile installation campaign. This accomplishment was made possible by the use of DEME’s jack-up vessel Innovation, which has been instrumental in deploying the advanced offshore foundation drill.

Despite challenging ocean conditions and a rocky seabed, DEME has been able to deploy its 350-tonne foundation drill, developed in collaboration with Herrenknecht. This specialized equipment, paired with jointly developed tools, is optimized for the harsh marine environment. Additionally, the 60-meter-tall MODIGA system was employed, offering enhanced stability and safeguarding the drilling and installation process, which significantly improves operational efficiency.

This milestone is a result of the strong partnership between DEME and its client, Les Éoliennes en Mer Services, as well as the cooperation with valued subcontractors and partners. DEME is responsible for transporting and installing the foundations and the offshore substation, continuing its role in advancing renewable energy in France following its success with the country’s first major offshore wind farm at Saint-Nazaire.
