Dutch crane company Kraanverhuur Tholen has taken delivery of one of the first Grove GMK4080L all-terrain cranes, a newly launched model from Manitowoc in April 2023. The 80-tonne, four-axle crane is being utilized in Tholen, Zeeland, to support the renovation and expansion of a residential home. Its primary tasks include lifting large wooden beams and hinged roof elements for the timber-frame construction.
Jordy Weggemans, owner of Kraanverhuur Tholen, chose the GMK4080L for its combination of versatility, power, and compact design. “We needed a crane that could access tight jobsites but still handle work typically done by a 50-tonne crane, with strong load charts for jobs in the 70-80 tonne class. The GMK4080L fit perfectly,” Weggemans explained.
The GMK4080L boasts a 60-meter boom – the longest in its class – and flexible counterweight configurations, making it suitable for a wide range of projects. Its ability to carry 5.2 tonnes of counterweight while maintaining a 10-tonne axle load, or up to 19.1 tonnes with a 16.5-tonne axle load, adds to its versatility.
Kraanverhuur Tholen operates across the Dutch provinces of Zeeland, South Holland, and Noord-Brabant, specializing in construction crane services.
