Van Oord has successfully installed the first monopile foundation at an offshore wind farm in the UK using KENC Engineering’s Flange Monopile Upending Tool (FMUT). Over the coming months, Van Oord will install a total of 100 monopile foundations at this North Sea site.
Van Oord contracted KENC Engineering in Q1 2023 to design and build the FMUT. The tool was specifically designed to enable efficient upending and lifting of monopiles, with a robust structure capable of handling monopiles weighing up to 1,600 tonnes.
