VINCI Energies and Senegal’s national electricity company, Senelec, have joined forces in a €200 million contract aimed at constructing crucial electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure. Over the next three years, the project will employ over 1,000 individuals and focus on creating 1,350 km of high-voltage and very-high-voltage transmission lines, connecting thousands of homes. Additionally, eight very-high-voltage transformer stations will be established.
The ambitious initiative, supported by French authorities, will not only boost Senegal’s energy capacity sustainably but also enhance the grid management system. This includes the incorporation of remote operational management and the implementation of defect-detection measures for both overhead and underground power lines. As part of the broader plan to fortify Senegal’s transmission and distribution grid, the project aims to achieve universal access to electricity by 2026.
VINCI Energies’ French and Moroccan subsidiaries will provide essential training and expertise to local teams involved in the project, reinforcing the commitment to transfer knowledge and skills. The collaborative effort aligns with Senegal’s strategic vision to efficiently strengthen its energy infrastructure, paving the way for a brighter and more electrified future.
