Varamar DMCC and ASL Shipping & Logistics Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of the COSCO Shipping group, have joined forces in a strategic partnership to enhance their respective businesses.
Varamar specializes in handling various types of cargo, including breakbulk, dry-bulk, oversized, and containerized shipments. Their focus has traditionally been on trade routes connecting Europe with the Middle East, Asia, and the Far East, as well as trading to Africa and the Americas. With recent expansions and the establishment of 10 international branches, Varamar is setting new ambitions in the 3,000-30,000 dwt tonnage range.
On the other hand, the COSCO Shipping group operates larger vessels ranging from 28,000 dwt to 60,000 dwt, primarily engaged in bulk, multi-purpose, and semi-submersible shipping. Their primary operational regions include Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas.
The partnership is designed to benefit both companies by promoting each other’s schedules, collaborating on marketing efforts, sharing information on open tonnage, and supporting adjacent trades. Both the COSCO and Varamar fleets and schedules will be accessible on the Shipnext shipping platform to facilitate cooperation between their chartering teams.
Kaptan Singh (Malik) will lead and assemble teams for this partnership as the head representative, working in conjunction with Niraj Mehta, the managing director of Varamar DMCC, and Andy Zhuang, the managing director of Varamar Shanghai.
Andy Zhuang, the managing director of Varamar Shanghai, expressed optimism about the collaboration, emphasizing that the partnership leverages the strengths of each entity and aims to bolster the commercial and chartering activities of both COSCO and Varamar.
