D&G Noble, a Bedford-based haulage company, recently executed a challenging lift at a London shopping center using a Modulift CMOD Spreader Frame. The project involved hoisting a cylindrical sign into position outside the Brunswick Shopping Centre in the city.

To accomplish this intricate task, D&G Noble employed a Modulift CMOD 12 Spreader Frame, coupled with supporting rigging gear beneath a Palfinger PK 53002 SH F lorry loader. The setup included four leg chain slings attached to the top of the CMOD Spreader Frame and four round slings beneath it.

The existing CMOD 12 Spreader Frame, configured at a span of 1.5m x 1.5m, played a pivotal role in safely lifting the aluminum sign, measuring 3.5m x 2.5m and weighing approximately 1000kg, into its designated location outside the shopping center.

Originally, the sign was intended to be installed in sections on-site. However, LC Signs, the designers of the cylindrical unit, expressed concerns about potential difficulties in reassembling it after transportation. They also worried about possible damage during the lifting process. Given these challenges, D&G Noble was tasked with finding a secure installation solution.

Phill Holmes, a representative of D&G Noble, noted, “The CMOD 12 was an instant answer to the problem. It ensured we could undertake the lift safely without causing any damage. We visited LC Signs to gain an understanding of what was required. As a result, a frame was designed and made which was fitted to the sign.” Ultimately, the sign was successfully lifted and positioned outside the Brunswick Shopping Centre’s main entrance in Bloomsbury, London.
