The Global Maritime Forum has announced The Port of Rotterdam as a new Associate Partner, strengthening collaboration on decarbonisation, sustainability and innovation across the maritime sector.
The Port of Rotterdam Authority is responsible for managing, operating and developing Europe’s largest port and one of the world’s most important logistics and industrial hubs. It ensures safe and efficient shipping operations while actively driving sustainable development and innovation within the port and surrounding industrial area. With around 1,400 employees, the Port Authority reported a turnover of €882 million, underlining its central role in reinforcing Rotterdam’s position as a leading European logistics gateway and world-class industrial complex.
Christian Jacob Hansen, Director of Partnerships and Community Engagement at the Global Maritime Forum, highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership. He said that decarbonisation and sustainability remain core priorities for the organisation, and that collaboration with partners combining operational expertise with a strong commitment to innovation is essential. According to Hansen, the Port of Rotterdam brings extensive insight and practical experience that will support and accelerate industry-wide progress.
Berte Simons, Chief Operating Officer of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, said the partnership formalises several years of productive collaboration. She noted that the Global Maritime Forum’s ability to convene a strong international network, combined with its action-oriented approach, makes it a valuable partner in advancing maritime decarbonisation and driving tangible industry action.
