Aertssen Kranen and Michielsens contracted by Total Antwerp

Over the next five years, crane companies Aertssen Kranen and Michielsens will carry out all lifting and rigging works at the sites of Total Refinery Antwerp, Total Olefins Antwerp and Total Polymers Antwerp. This in a joint venture, through a newly created company called AMI.

In order to guarantee a unique service, the idea arose to join forces. “ The AMI joint venture responds to Total’s request to optimize hoisting and rigging works as much as possible. With this collaboration there is one single point of contact for  Total platform. ”. Said Tom Deckers, Business Unit Manager at Aertssen Kranen.

“We also anticipate Total’s request to work efficiently with equipment and employees.” Clarifies Jack Hansoul, General Manager at Michielsens. “The collaboration between Total platform and AMI is further integrated by working with a single on-site planning.”

For this five-year contract, the joint venture disposes of an extensive and modern fleet of mobile and crawler cranes as well as SPMTs – Self Propelled Modular Transporters. About 35 employees will be employed on the Total platform on a daily basis.
